Removed cleanly, without a scar
Laser tattoo removal on a medical-grade laser, with a gradual technique aimed at clearing the ink while protecting the skin underneath.
The goal is clearance without damage
Tattoo removal is straightforward to do badly. Too aggressive and you trade a tattoo for a scar, which is a worse outcome and a permanent one.
The approach here is deliberately gradual: controlled sessions on a medical-grade laser, spaced to let the body clear the fragmented ink between them, with the skin's response reviewed each time.
What affects the outcome
Ink colour
Black and dark inks respond best. Greens, light blues and yellows are considerably more stubborn.
Age of the tattoo
Older, faded tattoos generally clear in fewer sessions than fresh, dense work.
Professional or amateur
Amateur tattoos often sit at uneven depth; professional work is denser but more predictable.
Size, depth and location
Larger and deeper tattoos take longer, and areas with less circulation clear more slowly.
Why it takes several sessions
The laser fragments the ink; your own body then clears those fragments over the following weeks. That clearance is the part that cannot be rushed, and it is why sessions are spaced rather than stacked.
Anyone promising removal in one or two sessions is either describing a very small, faded tattoo or is not telling you the truth about the risk they are taking with your skin.
You will be given a realistic estimate at the consultation, after the tattoo has actually been looked at.
Trading a tattoo for a scar is not a result.
How removal works here
Every plan here has two halves — the cause treated internally, and what shows treated at the same time.
Assessment first
Ink colours, density, age and your skin type are assessed, and a realistic session estimate is given before you commit.
Controlled, spaced sessions
Treatment on a medical-grade laser, spaced to allow full clearance between sessions.
Physician-performed
Carried out by a qualified doctor, with settings adjusted according to how your skin has responded.
Aftercare that protects the skin
Specific aftercare instructions for each session — this is where most removal complications are actually prevented.
Worth knowing before you start
Complete clearance is not guaranteed
Most tattoos fade substantially; some leave a faint shadow. That is said honestly before you start rather than after.
It is a commitment of months
Sessions are spaced by weeks, so a full course runs over months. Plan around that.
Aftercare is not optional
Sun protection and wound care between sessions determine whether the skin heals cleanly.
Cover-ups are a different plan
If the goal is lightening for a cover-up rather than full removal, say so — the course is shorter and planned differently.
Frequently asked
How many sessions does tattoo removal take?
It depends on ink colour, density, age, size and your skin. You will be given a realistic estimate after the tattoo has been assessed. Anyone quoting a number before seeing it is guessing.
Will it leave a scar?
The technique is specifically aimed at avoiding scarring, and the gradual, spaced approach is what protects the skin. Scarring risk rises sharply with aggressive, rushed treatment - which is the reason this is not done in fewer, harder sessions.
Does tattoo removal hurt?
It is generally described as more uncomfortable than getting the tattoo, but each session is short. Numbing is used and the sensation is managed.
Can all tattoo colours be removed?
Black and dark inks respond best. Greens, light blues and yellows are more resistant and may not clear completely. This is assessed honestly at the consultation.
Can I get a cover-up tattoo afterwards?
Yes, and lightening for a cover-up is a common goal. It needs fewer sessions than full removal, so tell us at the consultation if that is your plan.
